So, I heard about this woman who was on Oprah, called the "Baby Whisperer." Her name is Priscilla Dunstan, and she is from Australia. She is a woman who was born with a gift of perfect pitch, photographic memory, and the ability to play a piece of music note for note after hearing it once. She claims to know the sounds that a baby makes, using a universal language to know what your baby needs. There are 5 words that she defines.
Neh: "I'm Hungry"
Eh: "Burp Me"
Owh: "I'm tired"
Eiarh: "I have gas"
Heh: "I am uncomfortable" ie. change my diaper or i am to hot or too cold, etc.
So, I decided to rent the video from the library and we finally watched it tonight, with our friend Grace who has an 8 week old baby. WOW! I was really fascinated! As we were watching the video and hearing the examples of the different "words" we were hearing baby Thomas making the same sounds. While we were watching the video we heard him make the sounds for wanting his diaper changed, having to burp and he was hungry. The hunger one is the easiest to hear. It was really cool!
You can watch a video here that is a news story about Priscilla, and gives a few examples of the 3 of the words. You can watch a video of it here!
Really, quite fascinating! I am excited to listen to Goober!

Our little soccer player!
If you watch at about 30 seconds on the left side of my belly you will see a big kick!!!
If you watch at 14 and 29 seconds by my hand you will see some movement. (you win a prize if you can tell me what movie we are watching in the background!)
HEARTBURN!
This kind of heartburn has nothing to do with Valentine's Day!!! I never knew what heartburn was until the last few weeks, and have no discovered yet another symptom of pregnancy!! For the first time in my life, I bought Rolaids today! The heartburn was so bad yesterday that I knew it was time for some outside help!
In other good news about pregnancy, I have been seeing the baby move on the outside. It is so fascinating to watch my belly move!! I will post videos so you can enjoy the fun too! It makes Brian laugh every time he sees it!

Missed all the Action!!
We have known for a long time that a lot of stray cats hang out in our yard. We have recently noticed a lot of cats in the backyard, particularly under the deck and even some paw tracks on the snow covered pool cover.
When we left for mass this morning there were no tracks on the pool and minimal tracks on the sidewalk. No big deal, I just noticed this and we went on our way.
Well...we came back from mass and breakfast (at our favorite local joint..Spanky's) and Brian looked around the backyard and said, "A dog got in here!" Sure enough there were dog tracks EVERYWHERE!! Even on the pool cover! It seemed as if the dog got confused and couldn't figure out how to get out...until we noticed two planks of wood missing in part of the fence by the pool.
I looked around some more and noticed how big the dog prints were...this was one big dog! I felt like we were investigating a crime scene, trying to figure out what took place in our yard. If there had not been snow all over we never would have seen the evidence of our visitor.
So, we laughed and went in the house. We had a friend staying with us this weekend, who was sitting in our living room waiting for us to get home when we arrived, and he told us about the action that we missed!
There were 4 huge dogs (probably rottweilers) attacking a cat on the pool!! I am sad to say that it seems as if the cat didn't make it out alive, as one of the dogs apparently took off with it. (I am grateful that they didn't leave it behind for us to clean up). Although I am a little sad I wasn't here to witness the action of all that was taking place in our once quiet backyard!
I can't even imagine what would have happened if the pool water wasn't frozen over! We would have come home to a real mess in our pool! I do wonder whether or not the pool cover got pierced in the process. I can't imagine that the dogs who were fighting over a cat were kind enough to be gentle on our expensive pool cover!
So, we missed the action, but I am grateful that our friend Brandon was here to give us the details of what happened. I have no doubt that these dogs are trained to fight, as witnessed by their behavior in our yard. I praise God that it wasn't a small child that was getting attacked! Brian said that he would have called the cops if we had been home, and I would have totally supported that! There is a chance that some of the dogs were pit bulls, as there are many of them in this neighborhood.
