Guest Blogger Series: Client Perspective

I am starting something new this year and I am really excited about it!  Each month I will have a guest blogger.  Some will be clients of mine, and some will be vendors from the wedding industry.

I am starting off with a client, because once again I want to re-iterate the importance of having your family pictures taken.  These images become family heirlooms. What a treasure for your children to see themselves grow up in photographs as well as seeing their parents with them as well.  It is not too late to make a new years resolution---most have already dismissed their 2013 resolutions....this one could be quick, easy and painless.  Contact me or any photographer for that matter to have your family session done as soon as possible!

With out any further adieu my first guest blogger: Jennifer King

When Rachael asked me to write something for her blog, I thought "Oh, I can't write.", but it really made me stop to think about the topic... Why are family pictures important to me?

I HATE having my picture taken. I do not think I am pretty or good enough to be in a picture and I never think any picture of me looks good at all, but I love pictures of my kids.

I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in May, 2009 and subsequently had treatment and two additional children.  It made me think.. What if I die and my children don't have pictures of me?  What if they forget what I look like?  What if they forget how much I love them?  So, I tried to get family pictures taken, which is stressful for me.

It is stressful to find outfits for six people that 'match' and everyone likes. It is stressful to get six people, four kids with a wide age gap, to all sit still and look at the camera and look nice all at the same time.  The whole thing is in fact exhausting for me... until I met Rachael.

Rachael coming to my home or wherever I wanted to take pictures of the family.  Rachael, who has children and knows how crazy it is to be so calm and just snap pictures while we 'hang out' or 'play'. Rachael who comes up with poses that are wonderful and I don't have to worry about anything.  I still don't necessarily like to have pictures of myself taken, but it was a great experience and I look forward to working with Rachael to chronicle time with my kids.  My oldest daughter is a sophomore in high school and we are already excited to schedule a senior portrait session with Rachael!

Thank you Jennifer for your honesty and allowing me to capture your family
