I've always loved being a cheerleader!

This is a true statement! When I was in gradeschool, I always wanted to be a cheerleader! After never making the squad in Junior High, my dream finally came true my freshman year in high school. I loved it! I have a loud voice, so I thought it best to put it to use!

Well, I am still a cheerleader at heart! I just put it to use in a different way today--and without the skirt!

We are at my parents house and my mom noticed this morning that there was a water station being set up outside of our house. I looked out the front window a few hours later and sure enough there were runners going by. My first thought was, "I want to go cheer them on!! " That is going to be me in a few weeks and I would love it if someone came and cheered me on! I know how that encouragement from a stranger can really help give you that boost to keep on pushing!

So, I brought my breakfast out to the porch and got vocal! "Come on!" "Keep Pushing!" "You're doing awesome!" "Way to go Ladies!" "Good Job!" "I'm proud of you!"

As I shouted out these words, I began to cry....I am thinking about my race day and the feeling of accomplishment, of reaching that goal, of knowing that it is possible! I have already had so many people encouraging me along the way during training and it has kept me going!

As I sit here, another man, about 75 years old, just trotted by, more of a walk than a run, but he's doing it! It's amazing what you can do when you make the choice!!
