A Day in the Life: Superhero Tribute

This post is dedicated to my parents and siblings.

When we were young, my siblings and I played a game, that we probably called "Superheros."  We would put on our PJ's or quite possibly our under-roos, wrap our blankets around our shoulders to form our capes and fly into the living room to find our parents enjoying their evening television show and ask: "We are Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman! Have you see seen Adam, Ryan and Rachael?"  Our parents would respond, "Oh! You just missed them! We will tell them you stopped by!"  The superheros would fly off, making the appropriate "whooshing" sounds to indicate that we were indeed flying, as our blankets, I mean capes, flapped in the wind!"

Moments later, we would return, dressed in our clothes, entering as ourselves, and say: "Hi Mom and Dad!  Did anyone come to see us while we were gone!?"  Of course our parents would indulge us and say, "YES! You just missed Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman!"  When we would quickly respond, "Ah MAN! We will go look for them!"

You might be able to guess what happened next...Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman would appear! And the above scenario would play out...over....and over...and over...until it was bedtime. Or until Mom and Dad had enough!

Yesterday our boys, Jacob and Luke, aka Batman and Superman, wanted their capes on!  And of course mommy obliged!  I was so excited to tie their blankets around them just like we did and delighted in watching them fly around the house.  I had to get my camera out to capture the moment!

While they haven't quite figured out the game we played as kids, they for sure believed that they were Batman and Superman, and made the appropriate "whooshing" sounds as they flew!

As you can see in the images, they take their superhero duties very seriously!

Sweet Abigail just took in all in, safe in her superhero's arms....Daddy!
SUPER JACOB!
SUPER LUKE!

Our Superheros!
Safe in her superhero's arms!
