Documenting that First Precious Year: Join the Club!

We all know it, no one wants to admit it...You have more pictures of your first child than you do of any child after that.  Guilty as charged!

When our first son was born, I committed to taking a picture a day for the first year...and I succeeded.  I might have missed 2 or 3 days.  I was pretty proud of myself....19 months later, son #2 comes around...I of course committed to the same task...um...well I missed A LOT more than 2 or 3....and I still haven't sorted through all the pictures I did get of him and he is now 3 1/2 years old.  So, now 3 years later comes our first daughter! Imagine this mother's joy to finally have a daughter!  And once again, I plan to take a picture a day for the first year...and well, I missed the first day, and the third and fourth...reality set in. Who am I kidding!?!

Then I got smart...why not follow my own advice that I give my clients...every 3 months for that first year!  I have got it so organized for my clients that I started a club...a Heartbeat Club to be exact!  I joined my own club with our daughter, and I have succeeded so far. I did her newborn session, 3 month session, and will do her 6 month session this week...halfway there!

So, why do I tell you this story of my success and my failure?!  Because I have a feeling there are many more out there like me...busy moms, who want to document that first year of their child's life but feel a bit overwhelmed to actually make it happen.

Fishers and Cleveland Portrait Photography: Spring Sneak Peeks

I have had a ton of shoots in the last few weeks and therefore have spent several hours in front of my computer editing these adorable faces, smilles, giggles and baby preciousness! So as my clients wait for their viewing session meetings, I wanted to share a few of the images now, because if they are anything like me they are dying to see them!

You see, we just had our family pictures done last week. It is always good to be on the other side of the camera every once in awhile as well as on the other side of the waiting! I now know how my clients feel about having to wait to see their images. My friend and photographer who took pictures for us said she would have the images ready in about a week...but of course I stalked her Facebook page daily until she posted some sneak peeks! I was soo excited to see them and now I am so excited to see the rest!

So, the overall experience has taught me a few things of being a good subject in front of the camera as well as being an excited, but maybe slightly impatient customer waiting to see my images! It reminds me that my customers might be a lot like me and it encourages me to post sneak peeks and get editing done ASAP!

Akron Newborn Photographer: Adorable Nora

I am catching up on a few blogs.  Soon enough I will be all caught up!

So, here we have another sweet baby girl....Nora! It was really special for me to do this photoshoot for several reasons.  I have known Gretchen, Nora's mom for years and have had the honor of journeying with her since she was in college.  She has been through a lot over the years and always comes out on top.  It has been beautiful to see how her faith as carried her through and how her trust in God was solid through it all.

Her and her husband Sherman tried for sometime to get pregnant and were elated when they welcomed their baby girl this past fall!  Nora is also a member of my Heartbeat Club, so you will see more of her precious face in months to come!  =)
