52 Week Challenge: Week 13- New Life

I have always loved the idea of having farm fresh eggs, but they are expensive to buy.  As I was driving out in the country, on my way to my in-laws yesterday I saw a sign for someone selling them for only $1.50 a dozen!  Now that is a deal for fresh eggs!  I asked my in-laws if they knew someone that sells eggs and sure enough their neighbor does!  I got an even better deal...a dozen, straight from the chicken coup for FREE!  

I will go there again!  If I make it a regular item in my fridge, I will pay for them.  =)

I was pleasantly surprised to see how pretty the eggs were!  How appropriate, because it was Easter weekend!  Too bad we already colored our eggs for Sunday.  I also found it fitting as I reflect on Easter and the meaning of this special feast day.   

Eggs are a symbol of new life.  Jesus came to bring us new life, as He rose from the dead, opened the gates of Heaven and prepared a place for us.  We don't have Easter eggs just because they are pretty, they remind us of the new life in Christ we have because of His sacrifice for us.  Thank you Jesus for this new life, and help me to not take it for granted. 

And thank you for these beautiful farm fresh eggs.  They made great fried eggs for breakfast!

52 Week Challenge: Week 9 Sillouhette

Remembering to post my pictures is harder to do than I thought.   This is from last week.

I was on retreat last week and it was at an old monastery called St. Felix Catholic Center up in Huntington, IN  This place is amazing!!  So peaceful!  Each person gets their own cell to stay in.  Very simple. A bed, a desk,  a small bedside table, and a crucifix on the wall.  I had a beautiful view of one of the courtyards out my window and I couldn't resist capturing the simple beauty of the old windows.

Going on a retreat is always a good practice.  Good to get away for some quiet, fellowship and prayer time.  I had a delightful time with my fellow sisters in Christ as we drew closer to Jesus during our time away.  We might have laughed a bit too, ok A LOT!

Indianapolis Photographer: Session Updates

 I promise the lack of posts have not been for lack of work....I have been so busy that posting to my blog has been put on the back burner.  To see all my recent work, best to follow me on Facebook.

So here we have a collection of shoots...a First Communion, a super fun Senior portrait session, an adorable baby and a couple that is super in love!

Let me expand a bit on this couple....Michelle and Kevin are getting married in Mexico in May...and guess who they want to take with them!  YUP!  It's me and my husband!!  We are so excited and honored to be the storytellers for their special day.  (Ok and we are pretty hyped about traveling to Riviera Maya as well in order to capture their story!).  They are a super fun couple and I had a blast doing their engagement session, which was a small taste of how much fun we are going to have in Mexico.  Can't wait to share more about them later!

Fishers and Cleveland Portrait Photography: Spring Sneak Peeks

I have had a ton of shoots in the last few weeks and therefore have spent several hours in front of my computer editing these adorable faces, smilles, giggles and baby preciousness! So as my clients wait for their viewing session meetings, I wanted to share a few of the images now, because if they are anything like me they are dying to see them!

You see, we just had our family pictures done last week. It is always good to be on the other side of the camera every once in awhile as well as on the other side of the waiting! I now know how my clients feel about having to wait to see their images. My friend and photographer who took pictures for us said she would have the images ready in about a week...but of course I stalked her Facebook page daily until she posted some sneak peeks! I was soo excited to see them and now I am so excited to see the rest!

So, the overall experience has taught me a few things of being a good subject in front of the camera as well as being an excited, but maybe slightly impatient customer waiting to see my images! It reminds me that my customers might be a lot like me and it encourages me to post sneak peeks and get editing done ASAP!

Indianapolis Newborn Photographer: Sweet Naomi

I love photographing sweet, squishy babies!  I have had a few baby girls to photograph lately and I have been loving it!!  It is no secret that my husband I really want a daughter.  We of course love our boys to pieces and we hope to give them a sister some day.

This is sweet Naomi, daughter of Shannon and Brian.  She was a little fussy at first, being her first professional photoshoot and all.   I was glad to know I had not lost my touch in rocking a baby to sleep, as I swaddled her right up and had her asleep in no time.  Then I could take as many pictures of her as I wanted.

Naomi is an honored member of my Heartbeat Cub which means I will be capturing her precious face for the first year of her life (Newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year) and she will receive a book at the end of all her favorite images. Making Memories: Color Me Rad

My friend Amanda gets my blog emails (you can too by signing up at the bottom of my posts), and she remembered the one I wrote about the importance of getting pictures taken. This blog came to mind when her and her boyfriend, Daren decided to run the Color Me Rad race in Indianapolis and they wanted to document the event!  I was more than happy to get up on a Saturday morning and come and join in their adventure!  It was so fun to see how excited they were, especially Amanda.  She was so pumped and couldn't wait to start the race.  I had wanted to do this race a few months ago with some friends and it was sold out before we could even sign up.  It just looks like so much fun!!

So, even though I stayed out of the line of color shots, I for sure came home a little blue..hair, clothes and a dusting on the camera.  But it was so worth it!  You can see how much fun we had in the pictures.  Here are a few pages from the album I designed for them

Indianapolis Engagement Photographer: Abbie + John

Abbie and John are such a delight!  I really enjoyed meeting Abbie at the Indy Wedding Ideas bridal show and when I met John it was a joy to meet her perfect match.  As a Catholic myself, I noticed the scapular that Abbie was wearing around her neck.  I was excited to learn that John is coming into the  Catholic Church this Easter.  I will for sure be praying for him as he prepares for all the sacraments he will receive and the sacrament of Marriage they will receive in May.  Congrats you two, you are a beautiful couple!!  It has been so fun getting to know you guys!!

We had a lot of fun taking pictures at the Indianapolis Art Museum back in the 100 Acre Woods. Quite enchanting!

A list for the Bucket

There is this guy I know who was born 60 years ago...today for that matter.  He is the baby of 3 brothers,  loves the Beatles, had a ticket to Woodstock that his mother made him sell, once dove a VW Bug, worked for Kodak and NASA, which included a top security clearance position!  He loved his days of studying at Ohio University and despite ever getting any of his children to attend there, he finally has a niece studying there now.  He is a writer, a teacher, a photographer, a printer, an Olympic sleeper, loves tasty food and silence during Star Trek.  He is a husband, a father, a brother, a son, a friend.

He recently has been making a list and checkin' it twice...and it is not about being naughty or nice.  It is his bucket list!  I had the honor of capturing a multi-level item on his list.

He wanted:

• to grow his hair out long enough for a pony tail
• dye hair red
• shave head bald

It made for some great photographs and these images will tell a great story for years to come!  I am honored and blessed to call this man my Daddy-o-Daddy!!  And it is even more special that 3 years ago today I got to introduce him to his first grandchild, who bears the name of his father (Henry).  It was a a proud moment for me, when I got to say "Happy Birthday Dad, meet your grandson, Jacob Henry!"

I love you dad! Happy Birthday!!  I celebrate the life of you today, and the life of my son!  Thanks for all the lessons you have taught me, the moments we have shared and the memories we have created!  And here is to many more!!
