Best of 2014: All about the Shoes

I love that wedding trends have trended away from the traditional white wedding shoes. Don't get me wrong, I do love the classic white. At the same time, I think it is really fun when a bride decides to add a pop of color to her ensemble with her shoes. I personally went with practical for my wedding day. I am all about comfort and my husband and I are about the same height, so I didn't want heels.
My business card for my wedding business is a picture of a great pair of blue heels, telling the brides, "I've bee in your shoes." As in, "I have been a bride. I know what you are going through...the fun, the excitement and the challenges of planning a wedding."
Even though I am a photographer, I love to help make the wedding planning and wedding day as stress-free as possible for my couples. I love to help by talking through timelines, suggest venues and vendors and offer any helpful advice to help the day run smooth.

I love that he exchanged his cowboy boots for his dress shoes

Best of 2014: The Dress

One of my favorite parts of wedding planning was going dress shopping.  Not only was this something I dreamed about for years, who doesn't love putting on a bunch of beautiful dresses and twirling around like a princess.

When I was a little girl, I LOVED dresses that fanned out all pretty when I twirled around in them. Ok, let's be honest, I still love dresses and skirts that do that!  When my mom would take me shopping when I was little I would go into the dressing room and twirl, and if it didn't have a pretty "twirl" I would come out and tell my mom I didn't like it. When she asked "Why?" I would never admit the real reason, and to this day I don't know why I hid this important feature from my mom.  When we went shopping for my wedding dress there was no hiding my twirling around the dress shop.  Twirling was a must!

This past year one of my brides had an AMAZING twirling dress! I promise it is worth scrolling through all these beautiful dresses to see it!

My advice to brides: Don't be afraid to twirl in the dress shop! You are the bride!  You will get ooo's and ah's from all!

Best of 2014: The Bride

Once a woman gets that ring on her finger, she gets a new name...she is now known as "The Bride."

I love getting to know the bride through the planning process.  What is she excited about, anxious about, what is her favorite part of the planning, etc?  I love the special treatment you get by being a bride.

I love that brides love to feel beautiful and I love capturing that beauty that exudes from them on their wedding day.  The beauty of a bride is not something you can "apply" or "put on."  The hair, make up and dress are merely accents to the beauty that comes from within on that day that she marries the love of her life.  She glows, she shines, she can't stop smiling.  I stop that moment in time and capture that beauty so that her husband can re-live that timeless beauty that was just for him that day in a unique way that only a bride can give!
