Kristin + Johnny are Married!

It was through an interesting turn of events that I met Kristin and Johnny and I know there is no question that God orchestrated it all.  I know that may seem weird when it comes to finding your wedding photographer, but I will tell you I know God plays a role in my business.  All of my clients are special to me and I am so honored that they would invite me to be a part of their special day.  I love that I get to know my clients during the months leading up to their wedding so that when their wedding day comes I am a friend, not just a stranger with a camera.  I get the opportunity to pray for them leading up to their wedding day and be with them in those special moments seconds before they say I do.  It is truly and honor and I am humbled that God has blessed my business with such amazing clients to work with.

It is so important to me that I have a connection with my brides and grooms and that they have one with me. That connection shows in their images that I am able to capture.

When I first met with Kristin and Johnny we had so much fun!  Kristin and I found out that we had so many things in common and we laughed so much.  The two of them were so dang cute together that you could feel their love.  I couldn't wait for their wedding day!!

It was such a beautiful day!  Everyone was relaxed and joyful! As Johnny turned and saw his bride during the first look he was practically speechless as he took in her beauty! Then as she walked down the aisle, his eyes may or may NOT have been dry...and I might have been crying behind my lens as well.  The joy on their faces as they exchanged vows was contagious!

There was no question that their love and joy spread to their wedding party, as they made the day full of laughter! I am so grateful for a fun day celebrating two amazing people as they began their life together!

Best of 2014: The Kiss

I am the romantic that loves to make the newly weds kiss, dip and all that mushy sweet stuff!

I sometimes realize I have a plethora of kissing pictures at the end of the shoot.

There is just something sweet to me about capturing the special moment in a beautiful way.  I once did an engagement shoot and after several kisses with his bride "to be" groom confessed, "WOW! This is the most kisses I have had in a long time!"

I then quickly reminded the bride that she needed to kiss her man more often.

Ya know, kissing is the original "facetime!"

Pucker up and enjoy!

Advice to Engaged Couples: Slow Down and Look

As I am editing one of my weddings from last month, I am reminded about a small, but very important gesture that can often times be forgotten on your wedding day.

A wedding day is exciting, busy, full of emotion and is over before you know it.  The bride spends hours getting ready, making sure every detail is just right, every hair is in the perfect place and that she is ready to meet her groom at the end of the aisle.   Let's face it the groom is ready in about 15 minutes, 20 if he needs help with his cuff links.

The ceremony starts, all the family and bridal party portraits are done after the ceremony, then you jump in the limo and the party starts. Before you know it you are dancing to the last song and headed off into the sunset as a newly married couple.

The day was beautiful, fun, and memories were made, but did you remember....to stop...slow down...and look into the eyes of your new spouse!  This is what the day is about...you two starting your new life together. This day wouldn't be happening if it wasn't for the love between the two of you.

Before I was a wedding photographer I attended many weddings over the years. Something I always looked for during the ceremony was to see if the couple was holding each others hands. Have they made eye contact yet? Did he wink at her or whisper in her ear? What was the first thing they said to each other?

As I became a wedding photographer I still look for those moments so I can capture them with my camera.

Brides and Grooms who are about to walk down the aisle this wedding season...don't forget to stop...slow down...and look into each other's eyes. It only takes a second, but it is those moments that are important on such a busy day.  (and then your photographer can capture them so that you can remember them forever!)

Here are two such moments from Stephanie and Joe's wedding that inspired this blog!

Best of 2014: All about the Shoes

I love that wedding trends have trended away from the traditional white wedding shoes. Don't get me wrong, I do love the classic white. At the same time, I think it is really fun when a bride decides to add a pop of color to her ensemble with her shoes. I personally went with practical for my wedding day. I am all about comfort and my husband and I are about the same height, so I didn't want heels.
My business card for my wedding business is a picture of a great pair of blue heels, telling the brides, "I've bee in your shoes." As in, "I have been a bride. I know what you are going through...the fun, the excitement and the challenges of planning a wedding."
Even though I am a photographer, I love to help make the wedding planning and wedding day as stress-free as possible for my couples. I love to help by talking through timelines, suggest venues and vendors and offer any helpful advice to help the day run smooth.

I love that he exchanged his cowboy boots for his dress shoes

Wedding Boots. Now this I could get on board with!
